Our Story
Home »Our Mission
At Mandy’s House, we strive to end discrimination and remove barriers to recovery through advocacy, education, and service.
Our goal is to help those in recovery (YOU) maintain and sustain their recovery regardless of the pathway, all the while ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect. We provide peer-based recovery support services, community education, outreach programs, and recovery-focused activities.
Recovery is the solution to addiction. We know that living in recovery from substance use disorder is a continuous journey; Mandy’s House is here to help those in or seeking recovery and their families wherever they are along that journey.

A letter from the founder
Hi. My name is Amanda Nelson and I am the founder of Mandy’s House. I opened this sober living house to give women who struggle with addiction what I had access to and my sister sadly didn’t: a chance.
While my sister and I both struggled with substance abuse, I was able to get the help of a woman who truly cared and was able to guide me out of the darkness and into a life with purpose. Unfortunately, my sister did not get this chance and ultimately lost her life to a fentanyl overdose. Navigating a life with survivor’s guilt has been challenging, but it has led me to my purpose.
As a recovery coach who has been there [in recovery], I have a personal understanding of what recovery can look like, what it takes to live a sober life, and how to navigate women through it. I work closely with each resident to meet them where they are at, providing a personalized experience. I see this home as a family, but a healthy family where we lift each other up, set boundaries, and hold each other accountable.
“Doing this work makes me feel closer to my sister”
